Download

Download the latest release from needleplayer.com ↗ or directly from GitHub Releases ↗.

Install

1. Open the downloaded .dmg file
2. Drag Needle into your Applications folder
3. Eject the disk image

First launch

macOS may show a security warning on first launch because Needle is distributed outside the Mac App Store. To open it:

1. Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security
2. Scroll to the bottom and click Open Anyway next to the Needle entry
3. Confirm by clicking Open in the dialog

After the first launch, macOS will remember your choice and open Needle normally.

Dependencies

Needle requires mpv to be installed via Homebrew ↗. If it isn’t installed, Needle will prompt you on first launch.

To install manually:

brew install mpv

Once installed, import your music library to get started.
